Alfredo Sánchez Castañeda
Alfredo Sánchez Castañeda Ph.D. (2015 - )

Graduate in Law by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (National Autonomous University of Mexico) and has a Ph.D in Labour Law and Social Security by Université de Paris 2 (Pantheon-Assas). He is a Labour Law professor in the Facultad de Derecho (Faculty of Law) at UNAM.

He is a full time senior researcher C at the Instituto de Investigaciónes Jurídicas of UNAM, PRIDE D, member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (National System of Researchers) Level III, external consultant at the International Labor Organization for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, subdirector of the Revista Latinoaméricana de Derecho Social (Latinamerican Social Law Review), member of Comité de Gestión Editorial y Redactor Responsable de la Revisión final at Revista Internacional y Comparada de Derecho de Relaciones Laborales y Derecho del Empleo (edited in Italy).,, and also a member of the Comisión Dictaminadora del Área V: Ciencias Sociales del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (Dictaminatorial Commission of Area V : Social Sciences) of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (National System of Researchers) at Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT) (National Council for Science and Technology) and also of the Dirección Adjunta de Desarrollo Ciéntífico (Adjunct Office of Scientific Development) of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (National System of Researchers).

Some of his recent distinctions are: Secretario General (General Secretary) of the Mexican Section at Association Henri Capitant des Amies de la Culture Juridique Française from 2001 until today, member of Academie Internationale de Droit Comparé. Since 2010, he has been member of the Comitato scientifico internazionale e della Teaching Faculty di Adapt (Italy)

Since 2012, first place in the essay contest about « Derecho del Trabajo en México desde la Independencia hasta nuestros días. » (Labour Law in Mexico from the Independence to our days) organized by STPS (Secretary of Labour and Social Prevision) on December, 2010

Jorge Ulises Carmona Tinoco
Jorge Ulises Carmona Tinoco Ph.D. (2012 - 2014)

Graduate in Law by the Facultad de Derecho (Faculty of Law) of UNAM, with a Master’s degree in Law with specialization courses in Human Rights by Wessex Institute in England. He has also attended specialization courses in Legal Arguments by the Universidad de Alicante (University of Alicante) in Spain. He also obtained Masters and Ph.D Law degrees at UNAM.

Senior researcher at Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas (Legal Research Institute) of UNAM and member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (National System of Researchers).

He has collaborated with the Comisión Nacional de Derechos Humanos (National Commission for Human Rights, CNDH), Procuraduría General de la República (Office of the Attorney General), Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (Secretary of Foreign Affairs),and Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos (Inter-American Court of Human Rights). He works as Sixth General Visitator for CNDH.

Leoncio Lara Sáenz
Leoncio Lara Sáenz Ph.D.(2003 - 2011)

Graduate in Law by Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (Autonomous University of Chihuahua) and Ph.D by the University of Naples.

He held the office of Attorney General of UNAM and of Instituto Politécnico Nacional (National Polytechinc Institute), he also served as Attorney General at Universidad Autonóma Metropolitana.

He was visitator at Comisión Nacional de Derechos Humanos (National Commission for Human Rights), Ombudsman of Academic Rights, director at PROVICTIMA, National Defense of Work Prosecutor and General Justice Prosecutor of the state of Hidalgo.

He is a member of the Ilustre y Nacional Colegio de Abogados (Illustrious Mexican School of Lawyers) and was recognized with the Premio Nacional a la Investigación Jurídica (National Prize to Legal Research) from the Asociación Mexicana de Abogados (Mexican Association of Lawyers) and he has also been member of the Executive Council of the Mexican Center of Latin American Studies at the University of Texas.

Rafael Rocher Gómez
Rafael Rocher Gómez (1995 - 2003)

Graduate in Law with specialization courses in Private Law by the Facultad de Derecho (Faculty of Law) of UNAM, and Ph.D courses at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Complutense University of Madrid).

He has received several distinctions such as the holder of the Rafael Rojina Villegas Extraordinary Chair and the Jorge Sánchez Cordero Special Chair due to his academic performance. He has been a teacher for the Facultad de Derecho (Faculty of Law) of UNAM, Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (Faculty of Law of the Autonomous University of Yucatan), Instituto Autónomo de México (Autonomous Institute of Technology, ITAM) and Facultad de Derecho of Universidad La Salle (Faculty of Law of La Salle University).

He worked as this Office’s Ombudsman and then became the General Director of Academic Legislations Studies.

María del Refugio González Domínguez
María del Refugio González Domínguez Ph.D.(1993 - 1995)

Graduate in Law by the Facultad de Derecho (Faculty of Law) at UNAM and Ph.D. in Law by Universidad Complutense de Madrid; she finished her masters’ degree’s studies in History of Mexico in the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras (Faculty of Philosophy and Letters) of UNAM.

She has a wide academic record, teaching and also researching at UNAM. She occupied diverse academic and administrative offices in UNAM, Secretaría de Economía (Secretary of Economy) and Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (Secretary of Exterior Relations) and Comisión Nacional de los Derechos Humanos (National Commission for Human Rights). Actually, she serves as researcher at CIDE and is a member of Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (National System of Researchers).

Among her individual and collective publications, the books that stand out are: « Historia del Derecho Mexicano », « La formación del Estado Mexicano », 1984; « Transiciones diseños institucionales », which she coedited along Sergio López Ayllón, 1999 and 2000; Soberanía y Territorio, with Josefina Vázquez, 2000 and « La génesis de los derechos Humanos en México », México, UNAM, 2006, with Margarita Moreno Bonett.

María Carreras Maldonado
María Carreras Maldonado (1989 - 1993)

Graduate in Law by the Facultad de Derecho (Faculty of Law) of UNAM, being a forerunner for academic work at the Faculty and for gender equality.

She held different offices at UNAM: General Director of Universities and Schools affiliated to UNAM today called Main Office of Transfer Credit Acceptance, General Director of Legal Affairs of UNAM and the first female Ombudsman for Academic Rights.

She was a member of the Governing Board of the Barra Mexicana Colegio de Abogados and founded the Free Law Firm of the Faculty of Law.

Jorge Barrera Graff
Jorge Barrera Graff (1985 - 1989)

Graduate in Law by the Escuela Nacional de Jurisprudencia with honorific mention because of his thesis paper « El desapoderamiento en la quiebra ». He received a scholarship from the Michigan University Law School where he learned from teachers as Hessel E. Yntema and Ernst Rabel.

Afterwards, he moved on to the law firm Hardin and Hess and to Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (Secretary of Finance), he also entered the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas (Legal Research Institute) of UNAM to teach and research, he became a professor emeritus by the University and he also became level 3 of Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (National System of Researchers).

He served as Mexico’s delegate in the Commission at the United Nations for International Trade Law, and he served as member for the Council at UNIDROIT and he was the first Ombudsman of Academic Rights.
